It’s the time of the year again, where my family and I get to run the 5k fun run for the “Girls on the Run” event. This was her 3rd year to join the program and she loves it. This year, their girl scout troop leaders decided to create their own team an
volunteered to train them. They were meeting every Tuesday and Sundays like any other after school programs for 1 and half hours each meeting. Girls on the Run or “Heart and Sole” for 5th graders is designed to allow every girl to recognize he
r inner strength, the curriculum inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms. The purpose aside from training for the run is to build self confidence, make new friends and love themselves for who they are.
The program is really good for young girls like my daughter and I appreciate all the volunteers that are training the girls without expecting anything in return. I salute their love and devotion. I hope they would continue doing this and build a team again so the girls will get closer and closer to one another.
What I love about Girls on the Run aside from the good moral lessons they we’re learning every meetings, the whole family is getting inspired to run. We seldom run, but when we do, we only do it for special occasions such as this. We are looking forward for the next year’s experience!
Here are some photos taken during the run…
