Every year, more than 40,000 women die of breast cancer in the United States alone. That is quite an alarming figure, and the sad part is, the number keeps increasing each year. To think that there are so many other types of cancers from which people may suffer from. Simple analysis would tell us that, literally, the number of people who succumb to all types of cancers may at least be half a million or even more.
Even if there are known remedies for the different types of cancers, it seems as though these aren’t very effective. Cancer is something that could go away as swiftly as it came. A doctor may tell a cancer patient that he is on remission, but he may suffer from a relapse or recurrence after some time. Usually, the recurrence proves to be more fatal.
Dealing with cancer is no joke. Hence, we need to do everything we can to support people who are suffering. Wearing cancer awareness ribbons is one way we can show our oneness with these sufferers. We may not be able to help them financially, and we cannot do anything to ease their pain. However, we can show them that we are behind them and we can offer them encouragement by wearing those ribbons.
